Locus said no. So I'm a bit bummed. Would have been a fun job. But they were sweet enough to send me a check to cover my expenses to get up there, which is very much appreciated. And I did enjoy the trip up there and back.

Watching Varekai. Again. The fourth time in two days. I'll be sad to take this back.

Zoo pics!

More scimitar-horned oryx. I was lucky enough to be standing there when a tour bus rolled by. So I got to learn that these critters are extinct in the wild, and the zoo has a lot more that are off exhibit because they have the only exotic hoofstock quarantine in the world. Once they're declared healthy, they're going to be part of a reintroduction program and sent back to--um, Africa somewhere. I'm thinking it's north, but I could be wrong. And I liked this pic 'cause they're looking at me.

Here's a Cuvier's gazelle. They were sort of being cute today, with big black eyes and making huffing noises when too many people walked by. This one looks pregnant, I think. Or maybe they just have big stomachs, I can't tell.

Here's a baby Vaal rhebok and its mom.

And here's a nifty white flower, that actually turned out quite good. Also inside the zoo.
