Hellish day at work. Well, not for me, unless you count four and a half hours of cutting apart 300 or so laminated phone information cards (oh, the glory of a sit-on-your-butt-and-do-nothing-job.) But the company server went down--couldn't check people in all day, until 10pm tonight. Couldn't get them internet. Couldn't charge food and drink to their room. Couldn't alter reservations. Couldn't look up who checked in. Yeah, not cool. Another reason I don't want front desk--I didn't have to deal with all that directly. Good news is, we're getting new computers all over the hotel tomorrow. Yaaaay! And a new printer, since mine's been broken for a month. Yaaaaayyy!!!

Taking the kitties to the vet tomorrow so hopefully they'll get something to stop sneezing. :>(

Didn't do much writing. The scene I did revise now sounds way too over-the-top um--humanitarian isn't quite the right word. More like putting up a billboard saying IMPORTANT MESSAGE HERE. NOTICE IT. So, subtlety would be nice, if I could figure out how to do it. That's what I'm starting to worry about now, is if it's way too obviously paralleling a few issues in society today. I mean, good fiction does that anyway, but it might be getting too obvious. Arrrgggh.

Have three crits to do for the writers group this weekend. Read them, at least. Meant to do more at work--but, well, tonight just wasn't the night.

And here, just for the fun of it. . .

Since I haven't read said scene, I may be off the mark: but that's where SHOWING how people are acting/feeling and what they're doing REALLY pays off, cause the reader is left to draw their own conclusions. If they miss the hint, but you've done your job right, oh well. Sucks to be them.
