. . . is a free ticket to Sea World!

Okay . . . was it worth getting sopping wet, twice, thanks to the efforts of a pilot whale, to get pics that look like dolphins are flying like birds? You tell me. (Oh, and the camera is totally fine. I put it in the case when I knew the water was coming. I did get salt water in my eye though. Ow.)

Dolphins in another pool. This might be my pic of the day.

Here's a sea lion barking at people, "Feed me, feed me," which I wanted to do, except the trays of fish were $5. So I didn't.

Here's a sea turtle snoozing.

Or maybe this one is the pic of the day . . . this is a beluga whale.

Gee, I didn't know shark's eyes glowed in the light like cats. This was taken on a moving walkway going through a tunnel of sharks, and this shark was right overhead. Pretty nifty.

This is a bat ray. You can feed and pet these guys. They feel neat; soft and a little squishy though not quite slimy. They're friendly.

And of course no visit to Sea World would be complete without seeing Shamu. Or, rather, Shamu's descendents. This is a three-year-old calf that they recently put in the show, and the cool thing is that evidently Mom taught it several of the behaviors used in the show. Kinda cool.

And here's one of the adult whales making sure the audience is as wet as it is. Salt water. blech. I was lucky enough not to get hit in this show.

So, yeah. Fun day.

And there's a whole bunch more over here.

Oh my god we have to go there. I yearn for your zoos!

The photos of the dolphins tickle me especially -- they look like they're flying.
